Buttercup is a kind and gentle horse. She lived on a big ranch with many other horses. But sometimes, the other horses were not very nice to her. Even though she was beautiful on the outside, she felt sad on the inside.

A Happy Beginning

The other horses played rough with her, leaving her with bites and scars. They even pushed her away from the food so she didn’t get enough to eat. She was always hungry. Day by day, Buttercup grew sad. She started to lose her strength and her shine.

A Lonely Heart

But Buttercup had a secret super power. Even though she was sad, she know that when the other horses were mean, she could close her eyes and imagine a place where she was safe and loved.
She found small ways to make herself feel better - watching the clouds, feeling the wind in her mane, and dreaming about a world where kindness existed.

A Visible Change

Then one day, something happened that changed her world. Buttercup’s owner told Farmer Jim, a man with a big heart and lots of love, about Buttercup. Farmer Jim  said “I will take care of her.” Farmer Jim traded fresh, sweet hay from his “Two Sisters Farm” for Buttercup.

Caring Eyes

At first, Buttercup was afraid. She didn’t know what her new home was going to be like. When she arrive at Two Sisters Farm, she was the only horse. For the first time she wasn’t surrounded by other horses that were mean to her. But she she still felt lonely - just in a different way.

A New Opportunity

Then something different happened. Farmer Jim visited here many times every day. He pet her, brushed her, spoke kindly to her, and gave her plenty of food - so much that she never had to worry about being hungry again.

A Fresh Start on New Lands

She had almost 100 acres of green grass to explore and a sparkling lake to drink from. She spent her days running as much and as fast as she wanted. 
Farmer Jim and his family even gave her something she had never had before - treats. They were sweet and delicious. She looked forward to seeing to him every time he came to see her.

The Magic of the Lake

When winter came, the ranch turned into a snowy playground and she got hundreds of new friends. Farmer Jim brought cows to Two Sisters Farm because they needed grass too. Buttercup had never seen so many animals before but she had fun running and playing with the calves.

Every moment on the new farm was filled with smiles and kind words. Buttercup played freely with Winnie and her cow friends. The ranch became a place of endless fun and adventure. Buttercup loved her new life with Farmer Jim.
