Mrs. Vole is digging in the soft soil in the woods to make a home for her babies.  She does not like hard clay soil or sandy soil so she does not dig where they are.  She works hard to dig and make a new home near a pine tree.  She is tired and happy when she is finished because she knows that her family will be safe from Mr. Owl and Mr. Fox who want to eat them.  Mr. Vole knows how hard it is to dig because he digs too.  He pats Mrs. Vole on the cheek.  The Vole family will be happy and safe this spring.


Mrs. Vole Makes a New Home

Mrs. Vole wore her bright scarf as she searched for the perfect spot to dig. She sniffed the air and looked around for any sign of hard clay or sand. As she scurried through the woods, she found a soft patch of soil near a big pine tree. Excited, she tapped the ground with her tiny paws, feeling its softness. "This will do just fine," she said with a smile.

Mrs. Vole's Search

With their new home, the Vole family nestled together for the night. They felt safe knowing Mr. Owl and Mr. Fox wouldn't find them easily. Mrs. Vole whispered a promise to keep her family secure. "Thank you, dear," Mr. Vole replied warmly. They fell asleep, dreaming of the happy spring days to come.
