STORY OF A STONE

On a peaceful hill, two stones sat sunbathing. One was Rocky, a rough and bumpy stone, and the other was Smoothie, a smooth and shiny pebble. They couldn’t have been more different! Rocky loved his hill and felt like the king of the rocks. Smoothie had just arrived, rolling in from far away. Despite their differences, they enjoyed each other’s company. The sun shone brightly, and the breeze was gentle. It was a perfect day for a chat.

The Hilltop Friends

Rocky had always lived on that hill and thought he was the rock star of the hill. 'I’ve been here forever – no one’s as tough as me!' he boasted. Smoothie giggled, rolling a little closer. 'You’re quite the character, Rocky!' she said with a smile. Rocky puffed up with pride, feeling important. He loved being admired by others. The hill was his world, and he was proud of it. But Smoothie had stories that Rocky had never heard before.

'Well,' said Smoothie, 'I didn’t always look this fabulous. I’ve tumbled down mountains, splashed through rivers, and bumped into lots of rocks along the way!' Rocky listened with wide eyes, fascinated. Smoothie's journey sounded like an adventure. 'You’ve seen so much!' Rocky exclaimed. Smoothie nodded, remembering the bumpy rapids and swirling currents. 'It was tough, but it made me who I am today,' she said proudly. Rocky was amazed by Smoothie’s courage.

Rocky’s eyes went wide. 'You left the hill?! But why?' Smoothie laughed. 'To see the world! It’s a bit rough, but it polishes you up!' Rocky had never thought of leaving his hill. The idea was both scary and exciting. Smoothie’s stories made him curious. Maybe there was more to life than just sitting on the hill. Rocky started to wonder what adventures were out there for him.

Just then, some kids saw Smoothie. 'Look at this shiny one!' they said, picking it up and placing it in their pocket. Smoothie winked at Rocky. 'Told you – traveling rocks!' she said with a grin. Rocky watched as Smoothie was carried away. He felt a little sad but also happy for Smoothie. The kids laughed and played, taking Smoothie on a new adventure. Rocky realized Smoothie would have more stories to tell.

As the kids carried Smoothie away, Rocky realized that even though he was proud of his hill, maybe a little adventure could be rock solid fun!  Rocky scratched his rocky “chin,” deep in thought. Maybe he could roll down the hill one day . Rocky smiled, feeling inspired by Smoothie's bravery.

Rocky's Reflection

Rocky continued to think about Smoothie's adventures. He imagined himself rolling through forests and splashing in streams. The world seemed bigger and more exciting now. Rocky felt a sense of wonder he had never felt before. Maybe he could be brave like Smoothie. The hill was still his home, but now it was also a starting point. Rocky looked forward to the day he might explore beyond it.

A New Perspective

One morning, Rocky felt a gentle nudge from the breeze. 'Today might be the day,' he thought. With a little courage, he started to roll. Slowly at first, then faster. The hill waved goodbye as Rocky began his adventure. He felt the thrill of the unknown and a sense of freedom. Rocky was ready to see the world, just like Smoothie. His journey had just begun!
