The mystery of the magic amulets

Fiona peeking through the bushes, finding a tiny orange kitten without stripes

In the heart of an evergreen forest, stood a rusty maroon cottage. A young girl named Fiona lived there, with neat blonde hair held up by a crimson ribbon. She went outside on a Friday afternoon, striding along the narrow footpath. Fiona stopped at a bench to rest, with the palm of one hand on a tree trunk. Catching her breath, She noticed something unusual. “What was that?” she whispered, shivering. A bush rustled, along with the sound of footprints scrambling towards her. She peered over her shoulder. She only saw a wispy ginger tail swaying around the bush. “Who’s there?” she said in a hushed voice. A furry face, paws, legs, and tail poked out of the bush. “A kitten!” gasped Fiona, as her hands flew to her face. “Here!” she smiled, rummaging through her backpack. In the front pocket, was a checkered cloth.
