1. 1in 1952 on small county farm, Gran was reading  to Sharon, Johnny, and Joey

Trixie, The Wonder Dog!

In 1952, on a small county farm, Gran was reading a story to Sharon, Johnny, and Joey. They sat in the cozy living room, flipping through pages of colorful pictures. Trixie, the black and white border collie, lay at their feet, listening intently. The sun shone brightly outside, casting warm rays through the window. It was a peaceful morning, with the sounds of birds chirping in the distance. Suddenly, a loud noise interrupted their story time. Whiteface, the bull, was out in the pasture being noisy and grumpy.

A Quiet Morning on the Farm

Gran looked out the window and saw Whiteface stomping around. "Oh dear," she said, "Whiteface is causing a ruckus again." Sharon, Johnny, and Joey peered outside with curiosity. "We need to go catch Whiteface and put him in the barn," Gran explained. The children nodded, eager to help. Trixie perked up her ears, sensing the excitement. She wagged her tail, wanting to join in the adventure.

The Grumpy Bull

Gran put on her boots and grabbed a rope. "Trixie, you stay here with Sharon, Johnny, and Joey," she instructed. Trixie whined softly, wanting to go with Gran. But she understood and sat by the closed fence, watching carefully. Sharon, Johnny, and Joey stood beside Trixie, feeling a bit nervous. "Gran will be fine," Sharon reassured her brothers. They all hoped Whiteface would calm down soon.

Trixie's Dilemma

Gran walked out into the pasture, determined to catch Whiteface. The grass was tall and the sun was warm on her back. She climbed over the hill, searching for the grumpy bull. Whiteface was by a tree, snorting and pawing at the ground. Gran approached him slowly, speaking softly to calm him. But Whiteface was not in the mood to listen. He pinned Gran with his head against the tree, breaking her ribs.

Into the Pasture

Gran cried out in pain, hoping someone would hear her. Trixie, back by the fence, heard Gran's yell. Her ears perked up, and she knew Gran needed help. Without hesitation, Trixie raced through the pasture, her paws pounding the ground. Sharon, Johnny, and Joey watched in awe as Trixie sped away. "Go, Trixie!" Johnny cheered. Trixie was determined to save Gran from Whiteface.

A Cry for Help

Trixie reached the tree where Gran was trapped. She barked loudly, trying to distract Whiteface. Then, with a swift move, Trixie bit Whiteface in the back leg. The bull snorted and backed away, surprised by the brave dog. Gran quickly grabbed the chain hanging from Whiteface's nose. With Trixie's help, she led the bull towards the barn. Gran was grateful for Trixie's bravery.

Trixie to the Rescue

With Whiteface safely in the barn, Gran sighed in relief. She closed the barn door and patted Trixie on the head. "You saved me, Trixie," Gran said with a smile. Trixie wagged her tail, happy to have helped. Gran and Trixie walked back to the house, where Sharon, Johnny, and Joey waited. "Is Gran okay?" Joey asked worriedly. Gran assured them she was fine, thanks to Trixie.

Safe in the Barn

Back in the house, Gran lay on the couch to rest. Sharon, Johnny, and Joey brought her a blanket and some tea. "Trixie was a hero today," Gran told them. The children hugged Trixie, thanking her for being so brave. Gran knew she would need time to heal, but she was grateful to be safe. Trixie curled up beside Gran, content and proud. From that day on, Trixie was known as the wonder dog.
