The story tells of a child and mother who have come into a homeless shelter due to domestic violence in their home. The child is nervous about their new home, but a small, scruffy grey and brown dog named Scarlett welcomes the family and tells them about Quanada house. Quanada house is a home for parents and children that people stay at when their home isn't safe. It is a safe place that looks like a big house with an upstairs that has 5 bedrooms. Throughout the story, Scarlett shows the family their room, the dining room and kitchen, and the playroom. Scarlett the shelter dog helps the child make their bed up in their new room and brings toys to help it feel more like home. The child is sad about leaving their home but scarlett makes them feel better. Then they go downstairs and watch tv and eat a snack in the family room. After they eat, they go upstairs and brush their teeth and go to sleep in their temporary home. 

Welcome to Quanada House

Violet held her mom’s hand tightly as they walked into Quanada House. She felt nervous about this new place, but her mom assured her it was safe. As they entered, a small, scruffy dog named Scarlett wagged her tail happily. Scarlett seemed to sense Violet's unease and nudged her leg gently. 'Welcome to Quanada House,' Scarlett barked warmly, making Violet smile a little.

A New Beginning

Scarlett led Violet and her mom through the house, showing them around. They saw the big dining room and kitchen where everyone shared meals. 'This is the playroom,' Scarlett said, pointing her paw at a room filled with toys. Violet's eyes widened at the sight of colorful blocks and stuffed animals. Scarlett picked up a toy and placed it in Violet's hands, making her feel more at home.

Exploring Quanada House

Upstairs, Scarlett showed them their room with two cozy beds. 'Let's make it comfy,' Scarlett suggested as she helped Violet arrange her bed. They spread a soft blanket and placed a teddy bear on the pillow. Violet felt a little better seeing her new space come to life. Scarlett's wagging tail made everything seem brighter.

Making a New Space

After settling in, Violet and Scarlett went to the family room. They watched a funny cartoon and giggled together, sharing a snack. Later, Violet brushed her teeth and snuggled into bed, feeling safer. Scarlett curled up at her feet, a comforting presence in the new house. Violet closed her eyes, grateful for her new friend and the warmth of Quanada House.
