Bobby goes to school and is uncomfortable because of what Ms. M is teaching. It makes him uncomfortable to talk about these things. He doesn't know what to do, where to go, or who to turn to. 

Are his feelings okay? 

Can he talk about them? To whom?
He can't talk to Ms. M. So he tells his parents, Roberto and Sandra.

His parents tell him it's good he came to talk to them about his feelings and discomfort. 

They tell him he only should be learning about math, spelling, about the stars, and about gravity (Science). And anything else beyond that, he will learn when the time comes. But that his parents are there for him when he has questions.

This book empowers kids to understand how to talk about what happens in school and who to go to when they are uncomfortable.

What Bobby Learned in School

Bobby was excited to go to school today. He loved learning about math, spelling, and science. His teacher, Ms. M, was always very kind. Today, though, Ms. M started teaching something that made Bobby feel uncomfortable. He didn't know what to do or who to talk to about it.

A New Day at School

Bobby sat quietly at his desk, feeling uneasy. Ms. M was talking about things that Bobby thought were strange and confusing. He looked around and saw that some of his friends looked confused too. Bobby decided he needed to talk to someone about his feelings. But he knew he couldn't talk to Ms. M about it.

Feeling Uncomfortable

When Bobby got home, he found his mom, Sandra, in the kitchen. He told her about what Ms. M had taught and how it made him feel. Sandra listened carefully and told Bobby it was good he came to talk to her. She called Roberto, Bobby's dad, to join them. Together, they sat down to talk about Bobby's feelings.

Roberto and Sandra explained to Bobby that it was okay to feel uncomfortable. They told him that he should only be learning about math, spelling, and science at his age. Anything else, he would learn when the time was right. They assured him that they were always there to talk to when he had questions. Bobby felt much better knowing he could always turn to his parents.
